A More In Depth Look:
I joined a Girl Scout troop when I was in third grade. We completed mission project, swam with the dolphins, and sold cookies all throughout my elementary and middle school years. In high school, Girl Scouts becomes very self motivated and after earning my bronze and silver awards, I decided to try to earn my Gold Award – which is the Girl Scout equivalent to the Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. I decided to focus on the topic of the Global Water Crisis. I hosted several workshops for Girl and Boy Scout troops teaching them about the crisis, as well as raising money to purchase water filters to send to a community without adequate access to clean water. I ended up raising enough money to send 140 water filters to Coimbatore, India with the company WATERisLIFE.
Below, check out the presentation I created to teach my workshops and an article a local newspaper wrote about my project.
